Amigos en Accion is a 501 (c) (3) nonprofit dedicated to empowering the Hispanic community through education. Founded in 2003, Amigos en Accion aims to provide holistic services that enhance the quality of life through harmonious development of the mind, body, spirit, and social faculties. Our work focuses on the migrant farm workers living in our community in southwestern Michigan and other underserved populations, including children and youth who live in our founder’s home city of Quito, Ecuador.
Previously, we have worked with local colleges to arrange scholarships for over 230 youth in our community. We have also provided Spanish-language classes. Currently, we are serving a hundred warm meals every week to the homeless population in Ecuador. We are also working on opening a new community center in Eau Claire, Michigan. This community center will include a store with donated items to to raise funds, a kitchen to cook meals and snacks for students and senior citizens in our community, and facilities for classes in areas such as cooking, art, and nutrition.
